Sildens Dag, Dragør -  is a independent, non-commercial association, which was founded in 1998 inspired by the Scania Sillacademien.

The Association Committee has arranged Sildens Dag - Day of the Herring - ever since.

Sildens Dag is a yearly recurrent Tourist attraction, where we "build a Herring bridge" across Øresund.

Herring is historically one of Danes primary articles of food, and has laid the foundation to many fishing ports in the region, such as Dragoer.

Herring fishery, which has it's roots in the Middle Ages, had it's latest days of glory about six hundred years ago, where both salted and smoked herrings was a very  important commodity.
